It's time for another one of our reading discussions! It's like a book club, but without the homework. We do a group reading of a short article, and then discuss it together. (It's also ok to pass on your turn if you're too self-conscious; we're not grading performance here.)
We will be reading "We Only Have Ourselves: The How-Tos and DOs and DON’Ts of Mutual Aid" by Kim Kelly. You can find her article here:

We selected Kelly's article as an accessible introduction to ideas and examples of mutual aid. She offers helpful "dos and don'ts": DO "[f]ind the people who are already doing the work, and follow their lead" and DON"T "[a]ssume that you know what people want or need." Kelly concludes her piece with some suggested readings if you'd like to dig deeper. (Some, like scott crow's _Black Flags and Windmills_ are available for checkout in our library! Hint, hint...)
As always, our events are free and open to the public. The Black Cat House welcomes all ages, and is a drug and alcohol-free venue. To help keep everyone safe and healthy, we ask that all guests wear face masks in our space. We are wheelchair accessible.
