As our tribute to LGBT Pride Month and the anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, we'll be showing Paris Is Burning. This is a 1990 documentary about the drag ball culture in late 80s New York City. Considered to be an important film about drag, it addresses intersectional issues of sexuality, gender, race, and class, and how the drag performers deal with struggles such as racism, homophobia, poverty, and AIDS.
This event is free and open to the public. The Black Cat House is an all-ages venue, a drug- and alcohol-free space, and wheelchair accessible.
