This Saturday, we are happy to be hosting a workshop called "Linux For Luddites" to help our community learn more about open-source software. Linux is a free, community-oriented alternative to Microsoft and Apple. It is more transparent, private, and secure than the corporate stuff that you have to pay for. You can be more autonomous from the tech bros' cynicism, and you can do it for FREE!
Would you like to learn more? The Black Cats' tech support team will be here with laptops running several current versions of the Linux operating system that you can play around with. Flash drives will be available for you to take with you if you want to install it on your computer later. If you're ready to switch on Saturday, you're free to bring your laptop and we'll help you put the right version of Linux on there for you. (If you want to do that, you'll want to back up your files as the process wipes your hard drive.)
As always, our events are free and open to the public. The Black Cat House welcomes all ages, and is a drug and alcohol-free venue. To help keep everyone safe and healthy, we ask that all guests wear face masks in our space. We are wheelchair accessible.
