3/30/26 Minutes: Sticker Order, Summer Calendar

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Salem, Simon (late)
Start time: 7:00 PM

  1. Upcoming Event – Our reading discussion on mutual aid is this Saturday. Jackson will get the readings copied by Saturday. Salem has been doing additional research.
  2. Sticker Order – We are committed to ordering 250 copies of each of our three most popular sticker varieties in time for Earth Day. That order will probably be around $350, and Jackson will need to be reimbursed for it.
  3. Summer Calendar – It’s time for us to start brainstorming event ideas!

Star Trek TNG 2-parter about AI “girlfriends”
A leftist look at the USA at 250 – discussion for July?
Do we table again at Disability Pride?
Do we look into tabling at Juneteenth?
Star City Pride June 12th-14th; we’ll black out those dates
Pride season movies: Transformer (2017 documentary) or I Saw the TV Glow (2024 horror) [could the latter be scary enough to save for October?]
Winslow’s Wardrobe Back-to-School Distro in August?
Movie idea: Vivarium (2019); Anthony’s recommendation
pride season discussion: Why are queer folks the primary targets of culture war
anti-Iran war ideas: Persepolis movie night_; Coup 53 (documentary about overthrowing Mossadegh)
discussion about U.S. imperialism in Middle East?
a discussion about how we fight back against an administration that “says the quiet parts out loud”
Does war in the Middle East create openings for more renewable energy? (Silver lining kind of discussion?)

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM

3/23/26 Minutes: Event Review

In attendance: Dan, Jackson (secretary), Nate

Start time: 7:10 PM

  1. Event Review – We hosted our “Feminism is For Everyone” discussion on Saturday. Jackson felt that the discussion struggled to stay on topic, but that the folks present had a good time. Nate enjoyed the discussion, too.

We had a slow night, so we spent most of our hour on off-topic discussion.

Meeting adjourned: 8:00 PM

3/16/26 Minutes: Reimbursement

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary)
Start time: 7:20 PM

  1. Event Review – Our Looking For Simone movie night was last Friday. We really enjoyed the film, as did the rest of our decent crowd that night. The discussion was very spirited as well.
  2. Upcoming Event – Our “Feminism is For Everyone” discussion is this Saturday. We’re excited for it.
  3. Calendar Distro/Reimbursement – The calendar distro has gone well. Jackson will be reimbursed $16.50 for getting those printed.

Meeting adjourned: 8:20 PM

3/9/26 Minutes: Upcoming Event, Calendar Distro

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary)
Start time: 7:15 PM

  1. Upcoming Event – Our Looking For Simone movie night is coming up this Friday night. Anthony will plan on being here about 30 minutes early to make sure our online setup is in proper order.
  2. Calendar Distro Update – Jackson got the calendars printed last week, and distribution is underway. Jackson has passed calendars to Lauren, Salem, and Simon. Anthony took some for the Malone Center.

(These items were very brief, and most of our discussion was off-topic tonight.)

Meeting adjourned: 8:10 PM

3/2/26 Minutes: Calendar Update, Lincoln Earth Day

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Salem, Simon
Start time: 7:10 PM

  1. Spring Calendar Update – Our calendars were finalized last week, but Matt the designer was unable to provide a draft until this afternoon. Jackson will try to get them printed in the next day or two. Salem is available this week to flier downtown. Simon is willing to flier UNL City Campus for us. Jackson will coordinate with both.
  2. Lincoln Earth Day – We have decided to try to table there again this year. Jackson filled out the application, including paying the $35 application fee which he will be reimbursed for. Salem has an idea for a presentation about the environmental impacts of AI data centers.

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM

2/23/26 Minutes: Spring Calendar Finalized, Library Donation, Mutual Aid Documentary

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Nate
Start time: 7:08 PM

  1. Event Review – We had our Star Trek night last Friday. We had a small turnout, on account of the snowstorm the day before. But Jackson did meet a couple of new folks who seemed excited to finally visit our space.
  2. Library Donation – Anthony brought four cool books about Black history and Africa that will fit in nicely here. Thanks, Anthony!
  3. Mutual Aid documentary – Jackson has been in contact with some anarchist filmmakers who have created a documentary mini-series about mutual aid. It is sounding increasingly likely that they will be touring in support of their documentary in this part of the country over the summer. We are tentatively preparing to host them sometime in August.
  4. Movie Tech – Anthony has figured out a way for us to run the documentary Looking For Simone! (We got it to run here on a test after the meeting tonight.) We will be featuring it for our March movie.

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Nate, Salem, Simon
Start time: 7:05 PM

  1. Event Review – We had our “Why is Black History Important?” discussion here on Saturday. It wasn’t a huge turnout, but the conversation was highly engaging and everyone had plenty of space to have their say. (Even if we strayed a bit too far from Black history at times…)
  2. Library Donation – We have been offered two new books for our library. One is a history of race in Nebraska edited by our friend Kevin Abourezk. The other is a book about deepfakes co-authored by Anthony’s friend Chris Schwartz. We are happy to take them both into our lending library.

2/2/26 Minutes: Spring Calendar

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Jessie, Nate
Start time: 7:04 PM

  1. Event Review – Our annual counter-protest of the Walk For Life was this past Saturday. Jackson noted that our turnout was smaller than usual, but we still did our thing. The weather was very cold, and that may have had something to do with it. Jackson took Jessie’s advice and bought some hand and foot warmers for folks.
  2. Upcoming Event – Our “Why is Black History Important?” discussion is this Saturday. It sounds like we’re ready for it.
  3. Spring Calendar

Mutual Aid reading discussion – Jackson has looked over Salem’s reading recommendations, and he thinks one of them would work.

Winslow’s Wardrobe in March or April?

Linux Workshop on a Saturday afternoon? Anthony is not currently sure that he can commit to an in-person workshop for the spring. (Online event? Some other way to share information?)

garden workshop / indoor gardening / hydroponics?

critical evaluation of information / media literacy

Anthony has talked to his friend Chris Schwartz (Rochester Institute of Technology) who researches deep fakes. He’s currently busy traveling overseas, but he’s very interested in working with us and may have time over the spring.

Star Trek Night: “Booby Trap” & “Galaxy’s Child” (TNG)

Jessie suggests something about Simone de Beauvoir. There’s apparently a promising newish documentary called Looking For Simone, but we’re not sure if we can find a copy yet.

Meeting adjourned: 8:34 PM

1/26/26 Minutes: Radical Roleplay?, Spring Calendar

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Jessie, Martin
Start time: 7:07 PM

  1. Upcoming Event – Our annual counter-protest of the Walk For Life is this Saturday. Jessie recommended buying and providing some hand warmers, as it may be very cold.
  2. Radical Roleplay? – Martin has ideas for a politically themed tabletop role-playing game (RPG) series that could possibly serve to educate people about political theory through roleplaying. He had the thought of recording, editing it, and posting it onto our YouTube channel. It also seemed that Anthony and Jessie have some experience with playing tabletop games. Jackson suggested that maybe we should start a little bit smaller, with possibly a one-off workshop event here at the House. Jackson also pointed out that we actually have a rule book for a explicitly radical RPG in our lending library.
  3. Spring Calendar

Linux Workshop on a Saturday afternoon (Anthony)

garden workshop / indoor gardening / hydroponics?

critical evaluation of information / media literacy

Anthony has a friend who researches how to detect deep fakes; he lives in New York, but would he give us an online event that we could also possibly record and post to our YouTube? Anthony will ask!

Salem did post a recommended reading for a mutual aid discussion, but Jackson hasn’t had time to read it yet.

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM
