1. Event Review – We showed 416 on Saturday night. Turnout was a bit low, but the discussion was very good.

2. Upcoming Event – Trekkies For Humanism returns this Friday. We’re ready for it. We’ll be sure to plug it on Facebook in the next couple of days.

3. Reimbursement – Jackson bought some new dry-erase markers for the house, as ours were dried out. We reimburse him $3.21 for the expense.

4. Copy Machine – We still need to replace ours. Jackson will see what he can find locally. We’re thinking we have a budget of around $200.

5. Sama – The concert/discussion is coming up fast! Sammi reports he is nearly done with our flier. Jackson will be making the Facebook event at the conclusion of the meeting tonight, and will also be sending Sama another follow-up email.

6. Fall Calendar – Ty still needs some digital files to build the calendar; he’ll need to contact Ashley about that.

Meetings are returning to Monday nights at 7 PM. Open hours will not return for fall.

13 Movie Night: Looking For Simone Movie Night: Looking For Simone 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm March 13, 2026 Happy Women's History Month! Our March movie will be the 2024 documentary _Looking For Simone_. The following synopsis from Women Make Movies (wmm.com) is worth sharing in its entirety: "When Simone de Beauvoir's THE SECOND SEX was published in 1949, it sent shockwaves through society. Her thousand-page manifesto advocating for gender equality, women’s independence, and the liberation of social norms ignited a revolution in feminist thought. For the first time, a woman articulated a piercing and unprecedented critique of male domination, exposing its mechanisms in a postwar world not yet named, but soon to be recognized, as 'patriarchal.' Yet few people realize the impetus for this groundbreaking book originated in the United States, during a lecture tour de Beauvoir undertook two years before she published THE SECOND SEX. LOOKING FOR SIMONE (dir. Nathalie Masduraud and Valerie Urrea) dissects the origins and relevance of this bible of feminism, charting de Beauvoir’s fact-finding journey across the US to research her book. This documentary is not a hagiography, nor is it just a look back; it’s a conversation with the present. LOOKING FOR SIMONE expands upon de Beauvoir’s foundational work, weaving in 75 years of evolving thought on race and gender. It invites viewers into a new era of feminist revolution – one that is joyfully non-binary, unapologetically free, and radically inclusive." This film was pretty tough for us to get our hands on, so we hope a few of our friends will come out and watch it with us. We will have time for discussion after we watch the film. As always, our events are free and open to the public. The Black Cat House welcomes all ages, and is a drug and alcohol-free venue.
