May 1st is Labor Day for most of the world. Even though this tradition is mostly lost in the U.S., the reality is that the holiday really started here and became an annual tradition worldwide in response to the sacrifices of the Haymarket Martyrs.
(This is not specifically an event at The Black Cat House. This is an historical reminder.)

Annual Yard Sale Fundraiser
Annual Yard Sale Fundraiser

May 10, 2024It's the most wonderful time of the year! That's right, the Black Cat House's annual yard sale fundraiser is back!
The sale goes on Friday, May 10th, 8 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday, May 11th, 8 AM to 2 PM. This is the only time all year that we ask you for financial aid. All proceeds from the sale go towards printing costs, website hosting, new books for the lending library, covering expenses for traveling speakers, and the other ways that we support the community.
We will start accepting donations on April 22nd. If you're spring cleaning, keep us in mind and give us your neat-but-unwanted things! You'll be giving them a new home, and supporting us with the proceeds from the sale. We'll update this event as it draws near with a list of what we'll have for sale!
Important note: we do NOT take clothing donations for the sale. We would be happy to direct you to community organizations that may accept used clothing donations.
