1/12/26 Minutes: Web Reimbursement, Brochure

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Nate
Start time: 7:20 PM

  1. Event Review – We watched the SDS documentary Rebels With a Cause on Friday night. We had a low turnout, but it was a good discussion.
  2. Upcoming Event – Our next reading discussion is this Saturday. Jackson will get the readings printed, and we will be ready.
  3. Web Reimbursement – Jackson renewed one of our website domains last week. He will be reimbursed $36.19.
  4. Brochure – Nate has been working on the brochure. He showed off a mock-up. We discussed some of the content further; Jackson thinks the resources panel should emphasize meeting space, radical literature, and access to a copy machine for activists (and possibly fresh vegetables in-season). We also discussed what kind of images we want to add, including a photo of our library and possibly a sketch of the people’s power fist.

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM

1/5/26 Minutes: Brochure Updates

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Nate, Salem

  1. Event Reviews – We’ve had two events at the House since our last meeting. Winslow’s Wardrobe was back over the Winter Solstice weekend; they served clothing to a handful of folks (and we may have made a couple of new friends). We also hosted a bonus Terminator 2 movie night at the request of special guest Dr. Stellan Vinthagen (who was visiting from UMass). Turnout was predictably low, with the last-minute announcement during the holidays, but it was a spirited discussion that we were happy to have.
  2. Upcoming Event – Rebels With a Cause movie night is this Friday. We’re ready for it.
  3. Calendar Distro – Salem has continued to make progress, but the downtown bookstores haven’t been visited yet.
  4. Brochure – We further discussed potential content for the brochure that Nate continues to advocate for. We previously established that the front panel would just be something our name and a photo of the house, while the back panel would just be for our contact information. We have tentatively arrived on themes for the four open panels: history of the house, typical event formats, resources offered, and political values (bulletpoints).

Meeting adjourned: 7:55 PM

12/15/25 Minutes: Last Meeting of 2025

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary)
Start time: 7:10 PM

  1. Event Review – We had our V For Vendetta movie night on Friday night. The turnout was low, but the movie has held up well.
  2. Upcoming Event – Winslow’s Wardrobe returns this Saturday. Jackson still needs to get event info posted to Facebook and our website, but we’re otherwise ready.
  3. Holiday Break – We will be canceling the last two meetings of 2025. We will resume Monday meetings on January 5th, 2026.

(We spent most of the evening chatting about things that aren’t official Black Cat business.)

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM

12/8/25 Minutes: Calendar Distro/Reimbursement, Value Bulletpoints?

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Nate, Salem
Start time: 7:00 PM

  1. Event Review – We had our Mankiller movie a couple of weeks ago, but this was our first meeting since then. The turnout was low, but everyone enjoyed and learned from the film.
  2. Upcoming Event – Our V For Vendetta movie is this Friday. We’re ready for it.
  3. Winter Calendar Printing/Distro – Our winter calendars are here and we hope we can put them up around town quickly. Jackson will be reimbursed $57.07 for getting those printed.
  4. BCH Bulletpoints – Nate is still eager to help us put together a brochure. We are still trying to figure out what should be on each panel. There was a discussion about one of those panels containing our Black Cat values as bulletpoints. Unfortunately, we were not focused enough tonight to make progress on nailing those down.

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM

11/17/25 Minutes: Winter Calendar

In attendance: Anthony, Jackson (secretary), Nate
Start time: 7:15 PM

  1. Event Review – We hosted our “Re-imagining Trans Remembrance” event on Saturday. The turnout was low, with only usual Black Cats in attendance. We probably should have advertised it harder, but it’s hard to say exactly why it didn’t draw well.
  2. Upcoming Event – We’re running our Mankiller movie this Friday night. We’re ready for it.
  3. Winter Calendar – We mostly recapped ideas from last week, but Jackson also remembered that we need to look into our annual Walk for Life counter-protest.

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM

11/10/25 Minutes: Winter Calendar

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Salem
Start time: 7:05 PM

  1. Upcoming Event – Our “open mic” style poetry reading and discussion on Re-imagining Trans Remembrance is coming up on Saturday. We’re ready for it.
  2. READ Event? – The READ Network reached out to us on Instagram as they’re looking for event space for a couple of Saturday night things coming up later this year. We would like to help them, but Saturday nights are bad for us. Salem will reach out to them on Instagram.
  3. Food Drive? – Salem is still interested in trying to do some kind of food collection/distribution, but hasn’t made much progress. They will continue to work with Everett Free Grocery Program to learn more about how EFGP functions. Jackson warns that the Black Cat House doesn’t likely have any storage space to hold food donations.
  4. Winter Calendar – We’re very behind schedule!

December

  • Movie Night: V For Vendetta
  • Winslow’s Wardrobe

Other ideas:

  • Find contact info and reach out to Karima
  • Star Trek night?
  • Movie Night: Rebels Without a Cause?
  • Mutual Aid discussion?
  • Black history discussion and/or movie?

Meeting adjourned: 8:30 PM

10/27/25 Minutes: No Meeting Next Week, Tabling?, Winter Calendar

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Salem
Start time: 7:20 PM

  1. Event Review – We showed Punk Rock Vegan Movie on Friday night. The turnout was low, which may have been partly caused by late advertising. We may not have agreed with all the opinions expressed in the film, but we still enjoyed watching it.
  2. Upcoming Tabling? – We are withdrawing from tabling at the November 1st Made Here Market. Jackson has emailed Allie to let her and her folks know. We’re not sure yet if we can commit to the Festival of Sustainability that Lincoln is hosting on November 7th, but Salem would like to try.
  3. No Meeting Next Week – Jackson is unavailable next Monday. We will resume normal meetings on November 10th.
  4. Winter Calendar – We need to get cracking on it! We may need to trade some ideas on the Discord as well.

Palestinian event – We need to contact Karima!

10/20/25 Minutes: Winter Calendar, Event Reviews

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Payne, Salem
Start time: 7:15 PM

  1. Event Reviews – We’ve had three events since our last meeting.

The screen printing workshop was very popular, and everyone seemed to have a good time. It was a lot of work to prepare for, but it was worth it. And now we can make Black Cat House t-shirts!

We also had our annual Columbus Day protest exactly one week ago. It was small but mighty, as usual.

We also had our Martin Luther King reading discussion last Saturday. The turnout was low, but the discussion was still pretty lively. It didn’t help that there was a No Kings rally overlapping with the time of our event, or that we only got our online advertising up a few days before the event.

  1. Upcoming Event – Punk Rock Vegan Movie is this Friday night. We’re ready for it.
  2. Winter Calendar –

February is Black History Month
