Happy Pride Month, y'all!
Our June movie will be the 2024 horror film _I Saw the TV Glow_. It was written and directed by trans filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun.
I Saw the TV Glow is a 2024 American psychological horror drama film written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun. The film stars Justice Smith and (also-trans) Jack Haven as "two troubled high school students whose connection to their favorite television show drives them to question their reality and identities." (Thanks, Wikipedia!)
The Black Cats have not yet screened this film for ourselves yet, but the movie has quickly built a reputation with fans and critics for being a strong allegory of the gender dysphoria felt by trans folks. Richard Brody of The New Yorker called it "a profound vision of the trans experience", while Veronica Esposito of The Guardian claimed that it specifically "speaks to '90s trans teens". (Thanks again, Wikipedia!)
Discussion will follow the film.
As always, our events are free and open to the public. The Black Cat House welcomes all ages, and is a drug and alcohol-free venue. To help keep everyone safe and healthy, we ask that all guests wear face masks in our space. We are wheelchair accessible.
