6/23/25 Minutes: Salem and Payne are Back!, Tabling at Free Pride

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Jessie, Nate, Payne, Salem, Simon

Start time: 7:30 PM

(We got off to a very late start tonight because Payne and Salem just got back from their Civil Rights history trip to Alabama. They had a lot to share!)

  1. Event Reviews – We’ve been a bit behind on these, with Salem and Payne missing the last several meetings. Salem and Payne were at Star City Pride on the 13th and 14th. They had a good time, while tabling for their church. They were able to hand out a few handbills for us. We’ll have to schedule tabling at Star City Pride much earlier next year.

Jackson opened up the space last Friday for a discussion group hosted by DSA Lincoln. He reports that the DSA folks seemed to enjoy the space. Jackson also checked out the Juneteenth festivities at Woods Park. It was very hot, but they had provided a nice canopy tent for all the local groups tabling there. Despite the weather, there were a lot of people out there. We’ll have to think about tabling there in upcoming years.

  1. Upcoming Event – Our movie night for Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat is this Friday night. We should be ready for it.
  2. Summer Tabling – Free Pride is this Saturday, and we have been welcomed to go and table there. We’ll have to round up some materials, but it’s something we definitely want to do.

Meeting adjourned: 8:10 PM
