Movie Night: Libertarias

March 13, 2020

March is Women's History Month, and we're honoring the occasion with our March movie night here at the Black Cat House. We'll be showing the 1996 Spanish historical drama Libertarias (meaning literally "Libertarians," aka anarchists). This film is a dramatization about the Mujeres Libres ("Free Women"), a group of feminist militants who fought on the anarchist side during the Spanish Civil War of 1936-7. (If you haven't seen this movie, don't be surprised: Libertarias is a tough film to get a hold of in North America!)

Content Warning: While most of the war dramatization in Libertarias is pretty tame in its depiction of violence, the ending's brutality (violence against women) may be triggering to some viewers. Be advised.

This event is free and open to the public. Discussion will follow the movie. The Black Cat House is an all-ages, drug and alcohol-free space. We are wheelchair accessible.
