Black Cat Halloween Movie Party!: Candyman

October 31, 2019

‘Tis the season… for mischief, ghosts, candy, and all things eerie! The Black Cat House is hosting a Halloween party on Thursday, October 31st from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We’ll be showing a classic of horror from 1992, Candyman. In this film, a sociology grad student, Heather Lyle, studies urban legends. During her research, she learns of the Candyman, the ghost of a lynching victim who can be summoned by calling his name five times in front of a mirror. While much of the film scares you with blood and guts, it also reflects on one very true horror: Racism.

Be warned--this is a slasher film from the 1990s. There will be blood, gore, and violent jump scares. We recommend using doesthedogdie.com to check for other potential triggers; the warnings on this site may contain spoilers. This film is also not appropriate for children.

We’ll serve candy and other treats during the film! You are welcome and encouraged to show up in costume, if you so desire! We will also be handing out candy to Trick-or-Treaters who ring our bell!

This event is free and open to the public. Discussion will follow the film. The Black Cat House is an all-ages, drug and alcohol-free space. We are wheelchair accessible.
