1. Event Review – We showed 416 on Saturday night. Turnout was a bit low, but the discussion was very good.

2. Upcoming Event – Trekkies For Humanism returns this Friday. We’re ready for it. We’ll be sure to plug it on Facebook in the next couple of days.

3. Reimbursement – Jackson bought some new dry-erase markers for the house, as ours were dried out. We reimburse him $3.21 for the expense.

4. Copy Machine – We still need to replace ours. Jackson will see what he can find locally. We’re thinking we have a budget of around $200.

5. Sama – The concert/discussion is coming up fast! Sammi reports he is nearly done with our flier. Jackson will be making the Facebook event at the conclusion of the meeting tonight, and will also be sending Sama another follow-up email.

6. Fall Calendar – Ty still needs some digital files to build the calendar; he’ll need to contact Ashley about that.

Meetings are returning to Monday nights at 7 PM. Open hours will not return for fall.

10 Desperation & Hope: Abortion Rights in 2024 (a community discussion with NEAR) Desperation & Hope: Abortion Rights in 2024 (a community discussion with NEAR) 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm March 10, 2024 We are kicking off our Spring 2024 calendar at the Black Cat House with a special Sunday discussion! We are living in a post-Roe world where abortion rights are less certain than they have been in decades. Our state legislature passed a ban on abortions after 12 weeks last year, so we are understandably very concerned. We thought it would be especially appropriate with March being Women's History Month to host a community discussion about the state of abortion rights in 2024. We are happy to be co-hosting this discussion with two representatives of Nebraska Abortion Resources (NEAR). They are coming to discuss the political landscape, answer our questions, and talk about the abortion fund. They will also be providing "swag", including Plan B. This event is free and open to the public. The Black Cat House welcomes all ages, and is a drug and alcohol-free venue. To help keep everyone safe and healthy, we ask that all guests wear face masks in our space. We are wheelchair accessible. More

22 Movie Night: The Stepford Wives (1975) Movie Night: The Stepford Wives (1975) 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm March 22, 2024 The Black Cat House will be honoring Women's History Month by showing the 1975 version of _The Stepford Wives_ for our March movie. This cult classic is a satirical thriller adapted from a 1972 novel of the same name. It stars Katharine Ross and was directed by Bryan Forbes. The plot centers on Joanna Eberhart (Ross) moving with her husband Walter and two daughters from New York City to the elite suburb of Stepford, Connecticut. The men of Stepford all belong to a club, which Walter quickly joins. Their wives are oddly disinterested in anything but their housework. Joanna quickly becomes suspicious that something is very wrong in Stepford... and if you haven't seen it, we won't spoil the rest for you. The _Stepford Wives_ novel and film were heavily influenced by the then-contemporary second wave of feminism, though a number of feminists then heavily criticized the film. But over time, the film has become a cult classic and the concept of a "Stepford wife" has become a sort of meme. We hope that you'll come and watch it with us. Discussion will follow the film.
