2/26/18 Minutes: Whose Streets, Upcoming Events

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Ty (moderator)
Start time: 7:02 PM

1. Event Review – We watched the documentary Whose Streets? on Friday night. It was a great film, and we had a pretty good turnout and pretty good discussion after the film.

2. Upcoming Event – We’re hosting the community discussion “What is Transfeminism?” on Saturday. Ty is confident he can handle leading the discussion; he just needs to invite his friends and work on the social media hype for the event.

3. Work time – Jackson put up the Facebook event for Anarchism in America while Ty did the above prep for the Transfeminism discussion.

Meeting Adjourned: 7:30 PM

Tabled items: Friends of AK Press, Graphic Designer, Stuff to Buy (canopy, stuff to secure bike rack, labels, 7×7 no-slip outdoor mat for porch, new SSD hard drive for public laptop

2/19/18 Minutes: Whose Streets, Calendars

In attendance: Jackson (moderator), Ty (secretary)
Start time: 7:00 PM

1. Upcoming Event – We have “Whose Streets?” documentary showing coming up this Friday. We have the film, we just have to hype it on Facebook and clean up the room for it.

2. Reimbursement – Ty has been reimbursed $10.19 for printing our spring calendars.

3. Calendar Distribution – Now that the calendars have been printed, Ty needs some help distributing them. Jackson volunteers to distribute calendars south of A street and in the Haymarket.

2/12/18 Minutes: Finalizing Spring Calendar, Spending Money

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Ty (moderator)
Start time: 7:00 PM

1. Event Review – We ran _Get Out_ for Popcorn Politics on Friday. The turnout was a little lower than we’d hoped, but the snowy weather may have had something to do with that. The discussion was also unfortunately shorter than we’d hoped. People still seemed to enjoy the film.

2. Whose Streets – Jackson bought the movie, and it came in! Since Chris specifically made a donation to us with covering the movie in mind, we’ll add it to our library and reimburse Jackson the $7.99 he paid for it.

3. Militant – This week’s issue of the Militant came in the mailbox with a notice that our subscription is expiring in two weeks. We decide that Jackson will renew it for another two years ($65) the next time we see Joe. Jackson will be reimbursed for this expense.

2/5/18 Minutes: Event Reviews, Spring Calendar

In attendance: Jackson (moderator), Ty (secretary)
Start time: 7:05 PM

1. Event Reviews – Because we didn’t have a meeting last week, we have three event reviews: our showing of Trapped, the counter-protest, and the African Fight Against Imperialism discussion. Trapped had a good turnout and discussion, the counter-protest went well, and the African Fight Against Imperialism discussion was decent and had good info, but the turnout was low. The co-organizer for the counter-protest might be moving, so we might have to take up making the Facebook event in the future. For the discussion, we think we could have done more advertisement, but we are also concerned that maybe there is just not enough interest in African issues in a place like Lincoln, Nebraska, which is unfortunate if true.

2. Upcoming Event – Our showing of Get Out is imminent! We’re very optimistic about the turnout and the discussion to follow. We think it’s a provocative film, and the online response has been very good so far compared to our other movie nights. Set-up will be easy, and we have the film ready to go.

3. Web Reimbursement – Jackson paid $30.71 for our web domain recently. He is approved for reimbursement.

4. Spring Calendar – We’re still waiting on feedback to schedule Popcorn Politics.
