11/20/17 Minutes: Books, Reimbursements

In attendance: Jackson (moderator), Ty (secretary)
Start time: 7:10 PM

1. Event Review – We showed the documentary Sir! No Sir last Friday, which went very well! We ended up streaming it off Amazon, which cost us $3.21. Ty will be reimbursed for that.

2. Winter Calendar – Calendars are printed and ready for distribution! Ty spent $12.07 to get them printed and he’ll be reimbursed.

3. Books – We ordered a ton of books, and Jackson is also donating a few. We’ll accept the four books that he’s donating, as well as reimbursing him for $118.81 for 28 books.

4. Library Treasury – The current balance is $42.03, so we officially transferred some funds from the general treasury into the library treasury. At this time we transferred $76.78, so after the above book reimbursement, the library treasury will be at $0.00.

5. December Events – We spent the rest of the meeting putting up the December events.

11/13/17 Minutes: Russian Revolution Discussions?, Library Committee on Nov 27

In attendance: Jackson (secretary), Ty (moderator)
Start time: 7:00 PM

1. Event Review – We hosted our discussion, “The Russian Revolution: 100 Years Later” on Saturday. We had a decent turnout, and a good talk. Ty notes that while he enjoyed our discussion, it still wasn’t quite what we had intended and advertised. With many people in the room knowing so little of Russian history, Jackson and others spent nearly the first 90 minutes just setting up the people and events of 1917 itself, which left very little time to explore the modern relevance of the Russian Revolution. Two hours just wasn’t enough time! Jackson has started investigating the possibility of a multi-week series of classes, possibly as a successor to DSA’s successful (but soon to be completed) Socialist Feminism series (and possibly with DSA as co-sponsors/organizers).

2. Upcoming Event – We’re showing _Sir, No Sir_ on Friday night. We just need to set up the room, and it’s free to stream online.

3. Book Donation – Ty’s mom offered us some queer books! We added one of them, and Ty will take the one we already had and the one that doesn’t really fit our library to the LGBTQA+ Resource Center.

4. Winter Calendars – Ty will have the calendars designed and printed on Thursday.

5. Library Committee – We have decided that our November 27th meeting will be dedicated to cleaning up and re-organizing our lending library.

11/6/17 Minutes: Finished Winter Calendar, Spring Calendar Ideas

In attendance: Jackson (moderator), Ty (secretary)
Start time: 7:02 PM

1. Event Review – We showed Reds last Friday, and it went very well. The Popcorn Politics nights are continuously doing well, better than our usual movie nights.

2. Upcoming Event – Our discussion on the Russian Revolution is coming this Saturday! It’s gotten a good response, both on Facebook and in-person, and we hope it’ll be a good one. Jackson may prepare some specific talking points, but besides that we just need to set up the room for it.
